Our Program

Since 1987, Sunshine House has been a Montessori preschool in a home-like environment for up to 29 children between the ages of 2 1/2-6 years. Children enjoy beginning the day on our expansive playground. We have a wide variety of activities to engage small and gross motor muscles through play. Children can swing, run, climb, ride tricycles, dig in the large sandbox, roll in the grass and enjoy pretend play in the playhouses. 

We also provide a children's garden where we foster a love for plants, gardening, and helping the environment.

We clean-up as a group around 9:30 to come inside. A "Group-time" is held each morning with music, games, stories, discussions and new lessons. We also use this time to play musical instruments, learn words in sign language and explore new science activities.

After Group-time children have freedom to choose from a wide variety of activities in one of our three rooms. These include: practical life, sensorial, manipulative, math, language, geography, art and snack preparation. The teachers observe, guide and facilitate learning through individual and small group lessons. On Monday and Friday mornings the older students have an opportunity to work together in an enrichment group that focuses on kindergarten skills, and fosters their sense of accomplishment as a group.

All children learn to care for the earth through our extensive recycling and Eco/Art programs.
